In early 2025, ERR volunteers across Sudan reached nearly 280,000 people during one of the conflict’s most difficult periods. To add to the complexity, the closure of USAID programs across the country left significant funding and programmatic gaps where there had been historically reliable support.

These grassroots responders helped restore Garsilla Hospital in Central Darfur with medicine and vaccine storage, instal solar-powered water pumps in East Darfur to serve 15,000 people, and provide trauma care and mental health support in South Darfur.
